• About: For this 2002 production of "The Weavers" at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, I designed and built a functional, 1860's-style German standing loom. Meant to symbolically dominate the lives of the weavers, the loom is overlarge, visually blocky, and distressed to look rough-hewn. Constantly present onstage, the loom doubled as a doorframe, necessitating the onstage removal and replacement of its interior components. Actors disassembled and reassembled it in a ritualistic dance. To that end, it was designed modularly to facilitate easy onstage transformation.
